Laminated or coated fabrics are printed cotton fabrics whose printed side is subsequently made water-repellent with a thin acrylic or PVC coating. Acrylic coated cotton has a matte finish and is softer than PVC coated cotton.
The advantages of both fabrics are that they are water-repellent and durable. The edges of the fabric do not fray and therefore do not need to be trimmed. When cutting, only the pattern direction needs to be considered, but not necessarily the direction of the grain.
