Bulky yarn is made of air-formed polyester silk and is not twisted. Therefore, it is softer than regular yarn. Even though it is used for stretchy seams, the individual fibers are not inherently stretchy. The stretch is created by the crimping of the individual threads and the resulting fluffiness. Due to its soft, fibrous structure, bulky yarn lies much more comfortably when sewn. Cover stitches, in particular, look effective and flexible with this bulky yarn.
Bulky yarn is preferred for sewing highly stretchy fabrics such as sportswear and underwear. Due to its high opacity, it's also ideal for rolled hems and/or appliqués, as the seam is very soft and visually more prominent.
Bauschgarn besteht aus luftgeformter Polyester-Seide und wird nicht verzwirnt. Daher ist es weicher als normales Garn. Auch wenn es für dehnbare Nähte verwendet wird, ist die einzelne Faser in sich nicht dehnbar. Die Dehnbarkeit entsteht durch die Kräuselung der Einzelfäden und das Aufbauschen. Durch seine faserige, weiche Struktur liegt Bauschgarn viel schöner beim Nähen hin. Besonders Covernähte wirken effektvoll und flexibel mit dem Bauschgarn.
Bauschgarn wird bevorzugt zum Nähen von hochelastischen Stoffen verwendet wie z.b. bei Sportkleidung und Unterwäsche. Durch seine hohe Deckfähigkeit lässt sich Bauschgarn aber auch gut für Rollsäume und/oder Applikationen verwenden, da die Naht sehr weich ist und optisch stärker hervortritt.

Gut zu wissen
