In the production of fulled wool, woven or knitted fabrics are artificially felted by fulling (rubbing, pressing, and kneading) in a warm water bath. The influence of the heat and water breaks down the scale structure of the wool, causing the adjacent fibers to interlock.

Boiled wool is a miracle material. The contraction of the wool fibers creates numerous air pockets that later serve as buffers against cold (and heat). Perfect temperature regulation, then. Due to the material's compactness, water droplets simply bead up and roll off the fabric's surface.

Boiled wool offers optimal wearing properties. It's wind-resistant, dirt-repellent, and water-repellent. Water drops simply bead up and roll off. Despite its light weight, boiled wool can absorb a great deal of moisture without feeling damp.

Merino wool acts as a buffer against the cold and maintains a constant temperature underneath clothing. Due to the wool's natural lanolin content, it is self-cleaning, meaning mud can be easily brushed or brushed off when dry. Merino wool has antibacterial properties, meaning unpleasant odors disappear simply by airing.

      Good to know

      • Still need a matching thread ? We'll be happy to pick the right one for you!
      • As a rule, boiled wool cannot be washed. If you want to play it safe before sewing, you can iron the fabric. Place a damp cloth between the fabric and the iron.
      • Use Wonderclips to pin the layers of fabric together.
      • Boiled wool doesn't fray and therefore doesn't require finishing. It's sewn with a zigzag or straight stitch.
      • For sewing we recommend a jersey sewing needle .
      • Boiled wool fabrics do not necessarily need to be lined. To maximize the benefits of boiled wool, a lining material with similar climate-regulating properties is recommended. This means that moisture must be easily wicked away without the fabric itself feeling damp. Natural fibers such as cotton, wool, and silk are just as suitable as the synthetic fibers viscose, lyocell, and modal.
      • We deliver the fabric folded and it is cut in one piece.
      • Colors may vary depending on your screen; we are happy to help with possible combinations.
