Washable by hand, iron on a maximum setting of 1. In the production of boiled wool , woven or knitted fabrics are artificially felted by boiled wool (rubbing, pressing, kneading) in a warm water bath. The heat and water break down the scale structure of the wool, causing the adjacent fibers to interlock.

Boiled wool is practically a miracle material. The contraction of the wool fibers creates numerous air pockets that act as a buffer against both cold (and heat), resulting in perfect temperature regulation. Furthermore, the dense material causes water droplets to simply bead up and roll off the fabric's surface.

Boiled wool has optimal wearing properties. It is wind-resistant, dirt-repellent, and water-repellent. Drops simply bead off. Although boiled wool fabric is so light, it can absorb a great deal of moisture without feeling damp.

Merino wool felt acts as a buffer against the cold, keeping the temperature under clothing constant. Thanks to the wool's natural lanolin content boiled wool is self-cleaning, meaning mud can simply be shaken or brushed off once dry. Merino wool also has antibacterial properties, so unpleasant odors disappear with just airing.

    Good to know

    • Do you still need a suitable thread ? We'll gladly select the right one for you!
    • Generally, boiled wool fabrics cannot be washed. If you want to be on the safe side before sewing, you can iron the fabric. Place a damp cloth between the fabric and the iron.
    • Use Wonder Clips to clip the fabric layers together.
    • Boiled wool doesn't fray and therefore doesn't need to be finished. It can be sewn with a zigzag or straight stitch.
    • We recommend using a Jersey sewing needle for sewing.
    • boiled wool fabrics don't necessarily need a lining. To ensure the best possible benefits of boiled wool , a Lining with similar climate-regulating properties is recommended. This means that moisture must be effectively wicked away without the fabric itself feeling damp. Natural fibers such as Cotton , wool, and silk are just as suitable as synthetic fibers like viscose, lyocell, and modal .
    • We deliver the fabric folded; it will be cut in one piece.
    • Colors may vary depending on your screen; we are happy to help with combination options.
