Lycra is just another name or brand name for elastane. It's used to describe fabrics used in swimwear, sportswear, or dancewear. These are usually made of polyamide with an elastane content of 18 to 25 percent. This makes them very stretchy and conforms to the body shape.

- Do you still need a matching thread or bulky yarn ? We'd be happy to select the right one for you!
- The fabric does not fray and is sewn just like jersey with an elastic stitch or an overlock machine.
- The seams become particularly elastic when sewn with bulky yarn .
- Since the Lycra is cross- and bi-elastic, the pattern can be rotated by 90° if necessary and does not necessarily have to be cut in the grain.
- To prevent the fabric from being unintentionally stretched while sewing, it is helpful to reduce the presser foot pressure.
- For sewing we recommend a fine jersey needle .
- For a pattern, we recommend the e-book from Ki-Ba-Doo or Pattydoo.
- We deliver the fabric folded and it is cut in one piece.
- Colors may vary depending on your screen; we are happy to help with possible combinations.
