Piping is typically used in seams and on edges, for example, on pocket openings or necklines, or even on cushions. It's ideal for anywhere a little decoration wouldn't hurt! A cord is tucked into the fold of the ribbon, which, instead of a folded edge or flat finish, forms a kind of roll on the right side of your sewing piece. The roll isn't ironed flat, but remains beautifully round, creating not only a visual accent but also a unique tactile experience. Because the piping is cut at a 45° angle to the grain, it can be wrapped beautifully around curves.
