Lycra is just another name or brand name for spandex. It is used to designate fabrics for swimwear, sportswear or dancewear. These are usually made of polyamide with an elastane content of 18 to 25 percent. This makes them very elastic and snuggles up to the shape of the body.

• You still need a suitable thread? We are happy to choose the right one for you!
• The fabric does not fray and, like jersey, is sewn with an elastic stitch or overlock machine.
• The seams become particularly elastic if you sew them with bulk yarn.
• Because the lycra is cross-stretch and bi-elastic, the pattern can be rotated 90° if necessary and does not necessarily have to be cut along the grain.
• To prevent the fabric from being stretched unintentionally when sewing, it helps to reduce the pressure on the sewing foot.
• For sewing, we recommend a fine Jersey needle.
• We deliver the fabric folded, it is cut in one piece.
• The colors may vary depending on the screen, we are happy to help with possible combinations.

Washing recommendation

The fabric is washable at 30°C and can be ironed at level 2. Not suitable for tumble drying.
